08/05/2011 Session

As the last currency bar dropped out of the change machine, all the lights in the casino went out and all the machines turned off. Emergency lighting came on with exit signs and escape routes illuminated but nothing else. We decided to smash in the change machine and then see if the occuli came out again. Gav and Quold had some in depth discussion about the use of occuli in security situations. Quold said that standard protocol for a casino calls for 2 security podules containing cannisters with 12 drones each, controlled via a wireless uplink to the ship's main grid. The wireless uplink would be pretty difficult to hack, but possible if we had the right transmission gear and encryptions. Gav was rather surprised by how much Quold knew about security procedures!

STD-01 scanned the ceiling with the hand-scanner and managed to figure out roughly where the podules were located. He then decided he would have to hack the occuli using Boomeron's cyber-comms gear because we couldn't get a clear line of sight on either of the deployment podules, but Boomeron wasn't too keen on the idea of STD-01 getting inside his head. He suggested that we go to the bar and the admin office to try and find a terminal.

I got bored waiting around so I decided to stop waiting for them to decide what to do and break into the change machine. I tried wrenching off some of the panels and managed to shift them a little bit, but ultimately didn't get in straight away and made quite a lot of noise. A load of zombies started taking notice of us around then, so everyone else formed up in a defensive circle around me whilst continued trying to break in. Wish I'd had a better way to trash that machine, or even actually unlock it, but I'm not too good with machines. It took a fair bit more trying and a lot more noise but I eventually got it open. We found 7000 in 1000cr chits, 800 in 100cr chits and a load of small change, but of course it all spilled out all over the floor.

Just after I smashed the machine, there were 2 bright flashes from the ceiling and a loud creaking sound. I spotted 4 Occuli coming down from the ceiling. One of them was scraping along one of the plastic planetoid decorations on the ceiling and making it wobble in a disturbing way. It looked like it was probably gonna fall down, and maybe take a fair bit of the casino out when it landed; even if those things were plastic and hollow they were still massive!

Gav shouted to take cover and we all ran to hide behind the bar, which looked pretty solid. He was already running as he shouted, shooting at the occuli over his shoulder. Occuli took shots at Quold, STD-01 and me but we managed to get out of the way in time. I got to the bar just after Gav and Boomeron wasn't far behind. STD-01 was having some trouble negotiating his way between the slot machines so he used his turbo boost. He'd never used it before and it didn't seem to make him go that much faster, but he just about made it to the bar before the planetoid fell. Skrood was a bit behind him, guess he's not too good at running!

The bar was shut so we tried to get through the security mesh to take cover on the other side. Gav carried on shooting at the Occuli and took a few more out, whilst another one got crushed by the planetoid. I eventually levered the mesh up, no thanks to Quold and Boomeron trying to help, and had to hold it up whilst everyone else got through. Gav leapt through last so I shoved it up enough for me to fit through, dived over the bar and then let it slam shut. STD-01 was going to have to take care of himself for a while; his tracks would make getting over the bar pretty hard. I suggested he abandon them for now and hope they survived in the planetoid's wake, but he didn't seem keen on that idea.

The planetoid hit the bar just after we got behind it. It shook some plaster loose and dented the mesh but thankfully didn't smash through. It rolled off along the bar, where it seems STD-01 had been trying to find a way to fit his tracks through. It was pretty funny watching him racing the planetoid, smashing zombies and weaving between slot machines. I almost wish the thing had crushed him since he was so keen to kill me when I got infected! It was kinda hard to see much more through the dust, but eventually the crashing stopped and STD-01 emerged from a pile of wreckage. We had a look over the bar and everything was looking pretty fucked up! There was another occulus coming down towards us so I toasted it with my laser.

There didn't seem to be any Occuli coming so we had a look around the bar. STD-01 was still stuck on the other side, but only a few zombies had survived the destruction so he wasn't too worried. I passed him some babycham through the bar and was slightly disappointed that he seemed quite pleased with it, though I guess it was probably the first real alcohol he'd ever had. All they have on most parts of the ship is synthahol, which just isn't the same!

We started looking around behind the bar and Boomeron found a kitchen with a few Zs in. I figured I should cook some dinner with the fancy food that must be in there, so I left the others to help STD-01 through and went to clear the zombies so I could start cooking. I smashed the doors off the kitchen with my sewer scraper and threw them over to those guys to use as ramps, then set about clearing the zombies so I could get on with dinner. Seems my door-ramps got STD-01 over the bar pretty quickly so everyone else helped with dispatching the zombies but then all wandered off to look through the food whilst I cleared away the corpses. I guess it is my speciality, but even so a hand would have been nice and would have let me get on with dinner a bit quicker.

They found some pretty good food in the kitchen, loads of fancy ingredients and seasonings. Boomeron brought me some rancid, disturbing piece of meat with a sharp knife stuck in it. It looked hella rank, but he was pretty insistent I cook it. Skrood said I should let him eat it so I said I'd cook it for him. The others found a load of fresh, real meat! Seems the fridges here don't need external power so everything was still perfectly preserved. It took me ages to boil the meat down to a paste, but my mom always told me that when you cook things you always make a paste first! All this fancy kitchen equipment is pretty confusing too.

We decided to rest there for a bit so we lay down for a while. When we woke up I made some more food to take with us whilst we decided what to do next. I suddenly realised we hadn't checked out the other set of doors leading off from the bar area so we headed down there to investigate. I smashed the door off the hinges and it seemed to be some kind of employee rest area. We grabbed a few medical supplies from the medkit to replace what we'd used up recently but there was nothing else of interest. Well, apart from a few more jazz mags for Chaz's stash. There was another door out of the back. I poked it to see if it was open and it seemed to be locked, but something knocked back.

Quold made me do some kind of tapping code on the door, but I didn't hear anything after that. Gav seemed to hear something and said they were telling us they were zombies, with a big grin on his face. STD-01 said there might be animals in there as we were next to the Menagerie! I love animals but I never get to see any so I smashed the door in straight away. There was a zombie behind it so I stabbed it with my scraper, but then I somehow pulled the door and the zombie on top of me. Not quite what I'd had in mind. When I managed to get a look around the door I saw a shitload of zombies piling through the doorway. So many that the front rank were trampled by the sheer weight of numbers! Everyone emptied as many rounds into them as they could, and Skrood chucked a grenade in. That took out all but one, and Quold somehow managed to shoot it's head off with his pistol! He's not normally quite so effective with firearms.

The dead zombies had formed a wall across the doorway so no more were getting through, but we could see hands waving around above the corpse-wall. Skrood threw a flare over to see how many were left, and Gav took a peek over the top. There weren't too many left, but still more than we'd like to let through into this room, so Skrood chucked another grenade over and Gav followed up the blast with some sub-machine gun fire. There weren't any left standing, or even crawling, after that!

01/05/2011 Session

After the weird bar we decided we should just keep going until we reached the main administration tower complex. You can see it from pretty much anywhere on the surface: it's the big pointy tower towards the bow of the ship. As we got nearer we started to notice a change in the surrounding buildings. They were really posh, a sure sign we were getting close to nob town. Chaz was really obviously awestruck, just staring out the window with her mouth hanging open. I was pretty flabbergasted too but managed to keep it together.

Boomeron made good time driving as always but after a while he needed a break so Quold took over. Unfortunately he insisted on taking mandatory stretching breaks and hourly safety inspections, as per the Marauder of Parth's driving guidelines for inexperienced heavy goods vehicle operators. Boomeron tried to get him to drive faster and even nearly had him convinced, but then Quold stopped to check the regulations on his dataslate and explain all the regulations he would be breaking if he did as Boomeron suggested. While we were stopped I cooked some more of the fancy kibble and it seemed to go down much better this time, less cold and slushy and generally a bit more enjoyable.

Quold eventually carried on driving, satisified he'd fully explained all the driving regulations to Boomeron, when suddenly the road in front of us exploded! Quold stopped suddenly but was only going at the speed limit so it wasn't too hard. We couldn't spot anything out of the windows so we checked the sensors and spotted some kind of flying craft that must have been attacking us. It was coming round for another pass so Boomeron jumped into the driver's seat. Quold pretty much got out of the way in time but ended up sprawled on the floor of the cab and Boomeron did step on his ass on the way past.

The flier came round for another pass but Boomeron did some fancy driving and it missed. Gav shot it with the LMG a bit but it didn't do much damage, just made a few dents in the fuselage. I shot it wit the plasma gun and hit one of the fin thingies on the back. It started smoking and the flier started wobbling a bit, so I think I did some damage. I hit it again, it dropped down even lower and we could see a guy in there piloting it, alive and everything. Looked like a high ranking, fancy pants kinda guy! Fuck knows why he decided to target us. Gav hit him with the MGs again and the flier started coming down towards us, obviously trying to take us out with it. It hit us with its cannons on the way in and some shrapnel hit Quold quite badly, but Chaz managed to fix him up pretty good. Boomeron did some cunning maneuvers and avoided the flier actually crashing in to us, though for a while it looked like we were going to collide head-on. The flier hit with a pretty big explosion, but we went to the crash site and tried to loot it anyways figuring there might be something useful for fixing the shuttle. It was totally trashed by the impact and following explosions and what wasn't already destroyed was on fire.

After dealing with the flier we drove on to the main admin Plex. We got to a barrier where we had to put money in for a parking permit. We thought about ignoring it, but the parking barrier was automated so the enforcement system probably was too. In the end we paid 100 credits for a 24 hour spot! Bit pricey but hopefully it'll be worth it. Maybe if we're lucky the computer will compensate us for it when we get back, though somehow I doubt it. We drove on up to the main spire and headed in towards the Apothecarion. There were a load of swinging doors with zombies trying to get in. Quold suggested we create a distraction to clear some of them out of the way. Boomeron said "Here, play this flute". Quold responded that he wasn't a licensed flautist. We circled the base of the shaft in the truck to check for an easier way in. Most of the doors were shut with zombies trying to get in. A few smashed windows, but the zombies at the other doors didn't seem to notice. Guess at least they haven't gotten that smart yet!

Quold said something about how General Blarg'n Flarg'n would have driven around the Plex and blown up the zombies when they followed so we decided to give that a go. Boomeron drove the truck all the way round the Plex at a bit over zombie running speed and loads of them followed us. Then Skrood made some kind of remote detonated explosive and dropped it out of the back. He set it off when the main body of zombies got to us, which made a lot of crawlers but didn't really kill that many so we had to go back for another pass. The second time definitely did the job.

Quold said STD-01 should hack the doors. STD-01 said he needed to find a computer spur in order to do that so we scanned the area and found an outbuilding with a lotta data traffic. Quold managed to convince the door computer that we were there for a routine audit and we got in. Then STD-01 hacked the computer stack to open one of the doors to the Apothecarion. We were hoping he could set a delay timer or something to give us time to get there and secure the door first but he only just managed to get them to open at all.

Chaz set a big wall of flame behind us on the way back to the Plex and Boomeron backed us up to the doors of the Apothecarion. We managed to get everyone through the doors, but we couldn't fit the security bot out without having to do some serious engineering. We decided to leave it to guard the truck and headed inside. It was mostly a load of cosmetic surgery joints; tit jobs, nose jobs, orthodontistry and so on. A loada zombies but none of the weird ones. The whole place is really bling, like mansions on the tv and stuff. Quold said that all the medical joints would be violating health and safety procedures by having zombies in them, but we figured we were unlikely to find any that were zombie free so we might as well use 'em anyway.

We cleared some zombies and headed into the Plex. I thought we'd better find somewhere that could help us with our radiation exposure, after all the computer's medication was only supposed to lessen the effects, not cancel them out entirely. That's the problem with setting off nukes in a shitstorm, the shit always comes back to haunt you. We found a proper medical clinic down a lightly populated side road. I was gonna smash my way in but STD-01 opened it using the computer before I could. Good thing too 'cause then we could shut the doors again after we were in. There were 2 medical chairs, and Chaz worked out they would take one hour to run a full cycle. Quold and Boomeron were both quite badly injured so we decided they should go first, with the rest of us defending the clinic. No zombies attacked and they came out feeling much better so I decided to go in there and get rid of that rad damage from before. Some zombies turned up outside whilst I was under but everyone else dealt with them fine.

Once I was healed we had a think about where to go next. We decided not to go through Bracuse's Pit Fights, which was directly above the Apothecarion and probably filled with zombified pit-fighters, so we headed through the Apothecarion to the Lifestyle section, skipping along happily and killing zombies as we went. Quold didn't approve of the the skipping.

We hit Lifestyle and there were hardly any zombies. Quold insisted we go to an officers' outfitters shop to get the correct uniforms to go to the Captain's Table, which is some kinda fancy restaurant where the Praetor eats or something. Quold seems to think it's pretty important we go there. The store was all automated so everything was still running as normal. The robot butler greeted us as normal and Quold told it the uniforms we needed. It directed him into an automated booth on the other side of the room. I was a bit concerned it might be corrupted by the enemy celestial, like a lot of the automated systems we've encountered so far. Quold seemed convinced it would be fine so he went in first. He came out with some kind of fancy officer's uniform way above his rank, guess the computer buffed his chit or something, but he seemed pretty pleased to be wearing the uniform of a full Auditor!

Chaz was up next. She was also a bit worried about the robotic tailor and tried to get the robot butler to find some off the shelf uniforms. It got very offended. We were tempted to just leave then, but Quold was pretty insistent that we got the uniforms. He convinced Chaz to go in next and she got a pretty good uniform too, again of a higher rank than she held before the zombie crisis started.

I was still a bit suspicious even though the other two had been fine, so I went in in my armoured sewer suit. It came out all shiny and engraved with fancy patterns and cleaner than any other sewer suit I've ever owned! It felt a bit wrong being in a sewer suit that was so clean. After all, a sure sign of an experienced sewer tech is a good crust of dried on excreta all over his suit. It also seemed to have a sewer technician first class badge on it! Guess I finally got promoted. If only mum were still alive, she'd be so proud. Well, maybe she is kinda alive, but I doubt she'd be proud if she is.

STD-01 went after Chaz and he got a sub-medical officer half uniform, which is definitely a promotion since he didn't even have a rank before! Medical subjects are considered rankless, though of course we don't have any idea what rank he held before he was sentenced to be an experimental subject. I guess maybe he was some kind of doctor or scientist since he's pretty good at medicine, chemistry and computer stuff. Those sound like the kinds of things scientists would know about. The taylor just gave him the upper half, which made sense since he doesn't have any legs. I was thinking just a uniform jacket with his tank tracks would probably look a bit odd, but it had long tails that covered a lot of the non-moving bits without having much chance of getting stuck in the tracks.

Gav went into the tailoring booth next. He came out in a fancy black dress uniform with stripes down the side of the legs and really sharply ironed creases. The jacket had loads of gold braid and even a few medals, and he had a shiny dress helmet with a large black plume on his head and a parade ground sabre at his hip. The rank stripes said he was a security supervisor level 3, so I guess he got promoted as well.

Boomeron went in last and after a while a load of smoke started coming out of his booth. When he came out he had a load of sharp, pink metal spikes sticking out of his pants, kinda like some kind of spiky, metallic tutu. Quold tried to argue with the robot shopkeepers that we should get the outfits for free due to the distress caused to Boomeron, but the machines said it was what his psyche wanted. They offered us 10% off and demanded we pay. Boomeron was pissed and hit the robo-butler with his boom. It said something about a fine and then fired a taser round at him which knocked him out. Quold quoted a load of regulations at the machine and got us out without paying though we did get barred from the store.

After we got outside Chaz managed to cut Boomeron out of his tutu, though it took quite some doing. We carried on through the Lifestyle section without too much more trouble. Most of it was filled with more clothes shops but I did notice a jewellery shop with loads of shiny, expensive stuff. Think of the credits! We were thinking about going in and seeing what we could 'requisition', but if only automated stores are working then anything other than actual credits is pretty useless.

We headed on up to Solus' Casino, where we would definitely be able to find credits. It was planetoid themed with big solar system models on the ceiling. There were loads of slot machines and Chaz decided to have a go. She won 300 credits! I figured all the machines must be full of currency so I smashed up a big looking slot machine and a load of money came out, but a siren went off. I shot the siren with the laser and it shut off, but then a load of occuli with lasers on them came out of the ceiling! I shot one with a laser and Boomeron shot some with an advanced assault rifle he'd somehow convinced Gav to let him use. Then the little flying buggers were on us. Chaz and Quold hid. One occulus flew in close to Boomeron and attacked him but he fended it off. I was trying to get a shot the one I'd seen heading my way but I lost it. I was still trying to find it when it hit my sewer scraper which was stowed on my back! It was going so fast it split in half! Glad it didn't hit me instead. I hunted for another one and saw the one that musta been chasing Chaz. Hit it with my laser but it didn't do much. Fucker shot me though and it burned! Chaz distracted it by screaming at it and then rolled out of the way so I shot it in the back and blew the little shit to pieces.

We started collecting the credits from the machine I smashed but it was all small change. We figured we could put it in the change machine to get some higher denomination currency that would be easier to carry. We found a drinks trolley to put all the coins on and started trying to get to the change machine. While we were making our way there a zombie fell off a glowing planetoid structure on the ceiling and landed right next to Chaz. Fortunately it just missed her and didn't explode into a cloud of noxious spores. We made it to the change machine and started pouring in the change. It was hella loud and a bunch of zombies turned up, but that's nothing we can't handle. We got 1300 credits out of it so it was definitely worth it!

25/04/2011 Session

After breakfast we set off again.  We checked the sensors and there was nothing about.  This area of this ship is looking remarkably tidy: nothing seems to be destroyed or on fire.  There are no people around, but at least there are no zombies either.  I got a bad vibe from this place so we checked the sensors again, but still nothing.  I thought I'd better check with my inner daemon and see if the computer knows anything about what's going on but it couldn't actually reach the computer.  That's pretty worrying.  Nobody else other than Quold seemed bothered but this is pretty serious!  Philosophically speaking it's similar, potentially, to being in deep space without relevant computer backup - no regenerating, communing etc.  Tried to explain it to those jerks, but they were too dumb to understand the philosophical connotations.  I eventually convinced them that something was very wrong and STD-01 agreed to do a full diagnostic of the sensors.

As we came around a corner we spotted a bar that was open and filled with people.  Real, live people!  Everyone else seemed to think it was a great idea to stop for a pint, though to me at least it was obviously a really stupid one with the bad vibes that place was giving off.  Even Quold wanted to stop, and he seemed to have as bad a feeling as me just moments before.  Everyone got a bit overexcited.  They kept talking about all the things they expected to find there as if they had some idea what the place was like, even though none of us had ever been to the surface before, let alone to this bar.

Boomeron pulled the truck over and they were all intent on going inside.  I thought about waiting in the LMG turret, but decided I'd better go with them and stop the idiots getting into too much trouble.  Quold had been polishing his sewer suit and tied a piece of rope around the neck like a tie.  He seems to think this is some kind bureaucratic bar.  They kept having conversations that didn't make any sense.  Quold would say he was really pleased everyone was happy not to drink in the bar, and Boomeron and STD-01 responded about how they were really looking forward to getting shitfaced.  I really don't like this place one bit!

We went to talk to the doorman who seemed surprisingly normal.  I made sure I brought plenty of weapons, especially one of the high-penetration laser rifles and that plasma rifle I've been using.  I rather like that plasma rifle.  STD-01 and Boomeron started squaring up to the bouncer and Quold said something about him having more pips than him.  No idea what he was talking about, the guy was just a normal doorman dressed all in black.  No insignia of any kind, not even a ship's badge.  He seemed to talk a load of bureaucratic nonsense which confused the bouncer no end.  STD-01 tried to run over his foot but thankfully he moved.  I tried to convince him that these weren't the kind of guys he wanted in his bar, being from Waste Sector 1 and all, but he was having none of it.  Odd, I don't usually have too much trouble getting kicked out of bars.

They all ordered drinks, which came pretty quickly and seemed reasonably normal.  Boomeron ordered a hooker too.  Weird that they had hookers there, even in Waste Sector 1 they keep the whores and drinking establishments separate.  I guess up here on the surface they can afford to be more decadent.  I abstained and checked the charge in the plasma and laser rifles.  Everyone else got their drinks and STD-01 suddenly started acting differently.  He didn't drink his own drink and he knocked Quold's on the floor.  Boomeron offered Quold a shot of Space Turkey and some favours from his hooker to make up for the drink.  Quold just said something about forms and looked confused.  There's definitely something very odd going on here.

STD-01 started checking sensors again then he started going on about vines on the walls.  I thought I could see them out of the corner of my eye, but when I tried to look directly at them they weren't there, which made me feel pretty weird.  Then STD-01 got his stun-baton upgraded boots on sticks out and started hitting the wall.  The charge caused some kind of explosion which was really bright and loud.  It really made my eyes and ears hurt and I noticed everyone else was bleeding from them.  STD-01 did some more scanning and told me to shoot the place he hit on the wall.  I still couldn't see anything there but he was pretty insistent, so I shot it.  I decided to use the high-penetration laser as the plasma rifle might have too much splash damage for such a small space.  I took the shot and it made another big bang and hurt some more.  Then, all of a sudden, we noticed the tentacles!  Lots of tentacles everywhere, though there were still people drinking and having a good time as if they weren't there.  The tentacles were touching us inappropriately, especially Boomeron since he thought a bunch of them were his hooker, and I got really angry!  I think I might have flipped out like a ninja and furied, but then my inner daemon piped up and told me all of this must be destroyed.  I charged my way through the tentacles to go get the alien laser from the truck.  That's the only way to make sure this filth is wiped out completely!

We all made it to the door apart from Quold who got bogged down in tentacles.  He looked pretty mad, thrashing around trying to get free.  If he was less of a pussy he might even have furied.  We all made it to the door apart from Quold.  The doorman had turned into a writhing mass of tentacles, and I could see that they had started sucking on to our truck.  Boomeron unloaded an SMG into the tentacles blocking the doorway.  It cut through a few, but there were a lot of them.  I hacked most of them off using my scraper and we finally got through the door, Quold having managed to free himself without furying.

As soon as we got outside STD-01 threw a grenade into the bar, but he's never used one before so he forgot to pull the pin out and it didn't explode.  Really have to get Skrood to show us how to use those things properly one of these days.  The truck was covered in tentacles, as were all the buildings nearby.  Quold had finally came to his senses and calmed down a bit, as had I, so I handed him my pistol and shovel.  He'd been too obsessed with the bar to even take any weapons with him and I think I should be alright with a laser rifle, plasma rifle and a sewer scraper!  He'd better look after my shovel though, I've had that for years.

We had to fight our way through more tentacles to get to the truck.  There were a fuck of a lot of them and we all ended up getting entangled.  I slashed all the ones holding me off, as did STD-01, but both of the others were trapped and Boomeron was being strangled!  I tried to help him but the tentacle resisted, seemed to be a lot tougher than the others I'd cut already for some reason.  Quold  struggled free and STD-01 shot the shit outta the tentacles that had been holding him.  Boomeron also finally got free, gasping for air, and we made it to the truck.  It would have been a great time for the guys in the truck to give us some covering fire with the LMG, but they didn't do anything at all for some reason.  You'd think they'd at least help us out after the number of times we've saved their asses!

When we got into the truck Chaz and Gav were acting pretty weird.  We tried to get Gav to shoot up the building with the alien laser, or even just the LMG, but he just mumbled something incoherent and ignored us.  We figured they were probably being affected by the alien tentacles so we decided to get the hell outta there.  Boomeron hit the gas and actually got enough speed to get the truck off the ground as we crashed through the tentacle curtain blocking the exit.  That place was fucking weird!  I hope we don't meet any more of those bloody tentacles, they really fuck with your head.

11/04/2011 Session

So we finally made it back down to engineering and the friendly computer node. We weren't sure if we'd got the nuke in the right place, but the computer confirmed it. Pretty glad about that really, wouldn't wanna have to go back in case there are any more of those giant cyber-soldiers there. No time to rest though, now we're headed to navigation to get some important data for the computer, and check for survivors from the command crew. The captain and all the highest ranking officers work in navigation so it's bound to have been better protected.

I was a bit worried about having to go through the irradiated zone where we set of the nuke. I don't know a lot about it, but I remember doing a project on nukes in school and reading something about fallout and radiation poisoning. Fallout's normally dust, which the ship usually filters out of the air for reprocessing in the protein vats, but the administration block was on top of a lake of semi-processed waste what with being in brown sector. The shit runs deep in brown sector, though the stuff you get up on the surface is pretty pleasant compared to the kind of thing I normally have to deal with. Anyway, the computer said it would be fine so I stopped worrying about it. Some of the others weren't quite so reassured for some reason and Quold argued with the computer, something about health and safety? After that it decided to give us some medicine, though it had to figure out how to make it first. The first test subjects levitated for a few hours then exploded, but eventually it worked out a safer formula. Or at least I hope it did, we've got to take these things three times a day.

Once we had the radiation pills we set out across surface towards navigation. There were a few zombies but nothing we couldn't handle. Didn't even have to stop the truck! Our luck didn't last though and Boomeron drove into the middle of a horde. There had to have been at least a thousand of the buggers. Wasn't really his fault though, you couldn't really see any of them for quite a while but then Skrood checked the sensors. We tried to keep on driving through but we spotted another one of those glowing green fuckers. Gav shot him up a bit with the LMGs on the roof and Boomeron hit him with the truck, but he was a tough bastard and ended up hanging on to the front of the truck. I remember what happened last time we got too close to one of those buggers, it got all green and glowy and made us sick. We all got better eventually, but having your body reject mutated tissue is not a pleasant experience. My immune system ended up pushing one of my ribs out of my chest so it could regenerate it without the green infectious stuff. Anyways, I wasn't having that fucker hanging onto our truck indefinitely so I climbed out of the window and shot it off with a plasma gun. I love this thing, it's great for vaporising zombies and cultists alike. Glad Gav's a bit obsessive about searching for weapons now. We spent 30 minutes mopping up, killed at least 500, but Skrood could see more coming on the sensors so had to move on.

On the way out we nearly hit a razorwire barricade, which would not have been good for the tires! Boomeron missed it 'cause all the zombies were milling around it but fortunately Quold spotted it on sensors. I still don't get those things, I mean I had some basic sensor training when I did my Sewer Technician training but it's still just a bunch of glowing dots to me. Luckily Boomeron's pretty good at driving so he avoided wrecking the tires, but the truck still stalled with a few hundred zombies right behind us. We had to turn and go back to find a different route. There are a lot of weird Zs here, howlers and the ones that explode, though thankfully no more of the glowing ones. Eventually we found a way out that didn't mean going through the horde and we were back on mission.

We drove on through the night. I cooked some of the fancy rations. they didn't come out quite as I expected, kinda cold and slushy, but I definitely cooked them right. We took turns driving so we didn't have to stop. We took a rout through some kind of park oor farm land to avoid zombies. Gav took the first shift. He hit a few zombies but nothing major.

When I took over things were pretty quiet and I got to thinking about the zombies. They seem to be getting faster and smarter. I don't think they'll stop until they've fully turned to the enemy. We might be able to cure them somehow, but there must be so many. There were a lot of people on the Marauder of Parth before whatever it was hit us and turned them all into zombies or Sanctus Sanguine. I only hit one zombie on my driving shift, or at least I think it was a zombie. It moved after I hit it and we were going pretty fast, so it can't have been a survivor.

Quold took over after my shift and I got some more sleep. He managed to hit some kinda jury rigged barricade and bust 2 tires. We had to change 'em in the middle of a corn field. never thought I'd see the surface, let alone real corn! Chaz and I changed the tires pretty quick, just a few zombies to deal with and everyone else seemed to have it covered so I figured it'd be quicker if I helped with the tires. It was much easier than I'd expected. Everyone was whining about not feeling too good and trying ot blame my cooking, the ungrateful bastards. I definitely cooked that last meal right though.

Skrood took over driving next while the rest of us went back to sleep. He spotted a big horde of zombies on sensors so he drove round. He's smart like that, but then he is a Level 1 Sewer Technician. I always wanted to be a Level 1 but I never managed to get that promotion. I cooked breakfast in a field, only a few zombies around. This time it came out much more like I expected.
